The idea for the creation of an authentic Jamaican Sound System in Athens was born, after a trip in Jamaica in 1985. The primary reason was the spreading of Reggae music and culture in Greece, through the Sound System member's love for this music.

The first steps for the spreading of Reggae took place in 1986 with the appearance of Rankin Johnny and Dread Power under the name "Athens Hi Power". During this period the Sound System organizes Reggae Parties at Bars and Clubs in Athens and also appears as a support DJ set at the concerts of the first Greek Ska-Reggae group, called "De Traces". At this time "AHP" produced the first studio recordings of "De Traces" and also the dancehall version of "Summertime", by Evita MC. Also Athens Hi Power produce a radio program on Ç×Ù FM, with the participation of Mad Prof., Mack the Knife and Grassman.

In 1989, the group was enriched by two new members Miss Rudy and Lady Raggamuffin and virtually that is when "T.H.C. Sound System" was born. Soon afterwards "Cool Operator" joined T.H.C. and for a short period "RockStadi" also participated.

By the end of the same year, T.H.C. Sound System, begin playing music every Thursday night at "Graffity up on Stage" club, creating the longest lasting Reggae night in Greece. On these evenings, the basic core of T.H.C. Sound System Music Selectors was joined by various other people, who came and went.

Many special guests and also other Music Selectors, such as Dr. Mo, Collie Youth, S.O.B. and others appeared at Graffity. Also quite a few Microphone Controllers used the Sound System mike, such as Sakis the Mod, Alex M., Teddy, Amin êáé Wathig (members of De Traces), Mad Prof., Evita MC, Max, Jazzy Ranks (of FFC band). Many times musicians joined jamming along on percussion and guitar, especially Petros the guitarist of Sharp Ties (and Dubient), giving a live example of the atmosphere of an original Jamaican Sound System. T.H.C. collaborates with graphic designers and artists, such as Nasos, Dr Mo, Kostas E., DubMafia and others, who created posters, banners, flyers, tapes and CD covers, Xmas and Summer cards. On many Thursdays there were slide projections with interesting footage from Jamaica.

In 1994, T.H.C. Sound System becomes a member of Reggae Ambassadors Worldwide (RAW), an international web of friends, funs and professionals dealing in the Reggae Culture, with the common aim of spreading it at all levels of creation and expression.

A special evening, every Sunday called "Dubciety", was dedicated to an important musical tendency, DUB, with tributes to Studios and Producers such as King Tubby, Errol Thompson, Joe Gibbs, Niney the Observer and others.

Today, T.H.C. Sound System's Music Selectors are Rankin Johnny, Dread Power & Collie Youth. With this team T.H.C., participated in Rastavibe Festivals at Asprovalta of Thessaloniki, in the summers of 2003 and 2004 and the Sound Wave Festival at Skopje in 2006. During the last years they have appeared in many bars and clubs in Athens and the Islands and have opened quite a few Reggae concerts of Greek and foreign bands.

Since December 2006, THC member Rankin Johnny has set up, as executive producer, an independent Record label named "THC RECORDS", with the aim to promote Hellenic Reggae Groups and Artists. So far the label has released nine records ( 1 LP, 2 10inch and 6 7inch)

After 24 years of existence and with an enormous collection of vinyl records (LP, EP and 45 singles), T.H.C. Sound system continues to play music for the body and soul.
